Many of these classes are offered at no charge or with low co-pay for SCCIPA members.

Childbirth and Parenting Classes

Welcoming a new life into the world can bring its challenges; be prepared with the help of parenting classes offered by Good Samaritan of San Jose and Regional Hospital of San Jose.

MANAGE YOUR ASTHMA

Counseling for Children & Adults- Free to SCCIPA Members.

If Asthma is limiting your activities or cause trips to the Emergency Room, you’ll want to find out about asthma triggers and controls, medications, inhalers, spacers & how to handle emergencies.

BACK CARE

SCCIPA members pay co-pay if applicable.

Learn about common back disorders, their cause, posture guidelines and how to protect your back with good body mechanics. SCCIPA members must be referred for PT evaluation by their SCCIPA physician.

DIABETES CLASSES

Learn about blood sugar levels, self-blood glucose monitoring, classifications and symptoms, medication, nutrition, exercise, skin and foot care, prevention of long-term complications. Classes will help you manage your care. SCCIPA Members may be asked to pay co-pay for each appointment if required by your health plan. Pre-authorization is required through your physician. A support person is encouraged to attend the appointments and class at no additional cost.

Initial Appointment: An individual meeting with a nurse or dietitian diabetes educator to assess your individual need’s, identify your blood glucose goals and introduce or review/update your blood glucose monitoring and help you develop a testing schedule, review your medications, and provide information about how food affects blood glucose.

Follow-up Appointments: Individual or group appointments may be scheduled to assist you with ongoing support and education. These can be to review your meal plan, carbohydrate counting, blood glucose readings, exercise program, medications, insulin injection training, insulin pump training for those who qualify and other diabetes education programs.
